Arbitel‑h Tablet combines telmisartan 40 mg, an angiotensin II receptor blocker, with hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg, a thiazide diuretic. Together they lower blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels and reducing excess fluid. This combination is used to treat high blood pressure when telmisartan alone does not provide adequate control, helping to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney problems.
Who is it for
This medicine is intended for adults with hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by telmisartan alone. It should not be used by people who are allergic to sulfonamides, thiazide diuretics or telmisartan, or by those with severe kidney or liver disease, biliary obstruction, low blood volume, or severe electrolyte imbalances. Do not use during pregnancy as it can harm the unborn baby, and consult a doctor before use while breastfeeding. Use caution in patients with gout, diabetes, kidney stones, or who are taking other blood pressure medicines, NSAIDs or lithium.
Dosage
The usual dose is one tablet taken once daily, preferably in the morning, with or without food. Do not take more than one tablet per day. Your doctor will adjust the dosage based on your response and may switch you to this fixed‑dose combination after determining the appropriate dose of each component. Always follow your healthcare provider’s instructions and continue taking the medicine even if you feel well.
